Pharaohs Furgotten Tails is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization based in Denver, Colorado, USA for the sole purpose of funding our Kahu Shelter in Cairo Egypt.
The organization was established by Bahram Razaghnia along with his brother Shahram Razaghnia in Denver and their partner, Shireen Nassar who lives and works in Cairo, Egypt.
Our mission is to protect stray or abandoned dogs and cats at our shelter that is located in the Orabi section of Cairo. We use the donations we receive to provide our animals with food, shelter, and medical care. We are striving to meet a goal to spay and neuter all of the dogs in need of those medical procedures.
We established the Kahu Shelter in January, 2023 after helping other local Cairo rescues for the preceding seven years by supplying food, medicine and relocation of dogs and cats. Kahu is a Hawaiian word meaning protector or guardian.
Our shelter is about 12 miles from the Nile River and 15 miles from Giza, the home of the Pyramids. The property we currently rent is on approximately 5 acres of land and we are currently able to shelter 500 dogs. The property is walled and staffed.
The situation in Egypt is extremely difficult for dogs and cats. We all too often encounter situations where they have been physically injured as a result of being poisoned, stoned, or kicked. Our first priority is to save each animal’s life. That necessitates we provide veterinary care to save their lives, facilitate healing and provide a safe environment with food and clean water. Our 2nd priority is to provide spay and neuter services to help reduce the overpopulation of these animals in Egypt, while attempting to place as many of them as possible in adoptive homes.
